CVS Pharmacy: Now Offering CBD Products

As more and more corporations begin to realize how beneficial Cannabidiol (CBD) is, consumers will start to see a shift in what’s available in their local retail stores. This will make it more normalized and reduce the stigma associated with using CBD and other Cannabis-related products. At the moment, the legislation dictates that industrial hemp that contains less than 0.3% THC is legal at the federal level but states still have the autonomy to do what they will with their own individual laws. CBD does not contain any psychoactive ingredients nor addictive substances, despite being a chemical compound of the Cannabis plant. THC is the culprit of this and consequently is still considered an illegal substance. Manufacturers are beginning to try to get a slice of the pie as the CBD industry has begun booming recently, and is in high demand by many all around the globe.

CBD Pharmacy

CVS Pharmacy, also stylized as CVS/pharmacy, is an auxiliary of the well known American retail and health care company CVS Health; those company’s headquarters is located in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. In the United States, CVS Pharmacy is currently the largest pharmacy chain, with over 10,000 locations as of 2016. In addition to having the highest number of stores, they also have the highest prescription revenue when stacks against other competitors such as Walgreens.

At CVS you can find prescription drugs, and a wide array of merchandise ranging from cosmetics and beauty items to foods, greeting cards, household items, photo services, and over-the-counter meds as well.

This retail chain also offers clinical and healthcare services at their Minute Clinic locations, which are inside of around 1100 different stores, and they also offer a Diabetes Care Center as well.

CVS to Sell CBD-Infused Products

In 2019, CBD spokesperson, Michael DeAngelis announced that the chain would begin selling specific CBD products in about 800 of their stores, in eight states. These states include: Illinois, Colorado, Alabama, California, Kentucky, Tennessee, Maryland, and Indiana; these locations will carry a limited number of brands and customers will be able to purchase CBD-infused sprays, lotions, salves, creams and roll-ons. The company also wanted to note that neither edibles nor CBD-derived supplements will be available at this time. CVS has said that they will also be sure to test their products scrupulously to ensure that the items reach the high-quality standards of the CVD franchise. They are working with their suppliers very closely and the representatives of CVS desire to be in constant contact to guarantee that customers are getting the best CBD available. This may be slightly motivated by the fact that the Walgreens chain also announced their intentions to sell CBD-derived products shortly after CVS made their declaration.

As of now, consumers can find quality products at an affordable price at a select number of CVS locations in the aforementioned states. The CVS ambassadors are very excited to see where this takes the company in the future as CBD is an alternative treatment option for a variety of ailments such as chronic pain and inflammation, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and much more. Customers will be happy to see some of these effective products on the shelves at one of their local CVS shops, and as the CBD market continues to grow and develop, other consumers nay see CBD popping up in their areas as well.
